VITAMIN B1

Thiamin (Vitamin B1) is part of a group of B Vitamins which convert carbohydrates into glucose which the body uses for energy. Together they are the B Complex vitamins. Because the body stores very little thiamin, it is almost totally dependent on getting enough through food or supplements. The classic deficiency of Thiamin is Beriberi. Vitamin B1 may also help the body cope with stress and support the immune system. Vitamin B1 may be reduced by certain medications. Vitamin B1 (Thiamin) is the vitamin nutritionists use to help the body in its metabolic functions. This vitamin is often depleted from the system by consuming alcoholic beverages.

Note: Thiamin may not be recommended for cancer patients and large doses may create an imbalance of other B Vitamins in the body.
